This page explains you how to unzip and run a DOS game.
- Click on one of the titles on the games index.
- A page with information will show up. Click on the Download this game link.
- With most browsers, you'll see a pop up window asking you if you want to Open or Save the file. Choose
Save.
- Your browser should then ask you which folder you want to save the file in. It's a good idea to create a special folder
(called downloads, for example) where you save downloaded files. Then you will always know where your .ZIP
files are. Choose a folder and click on OK. When this window appears, you should also make a note of the name of the
file, you will need to know that to find it later.
- Your browser will then begin download the file. How long this takes depends on the size of the file, the speed of your
modem, and the level of Internet traffic on the server and the Internet.
- When the download is completed, you can close your browser. Go to the folder where you saved the file.
- The downloaded file is a .ZIP file. These files must be unzipped before they can be used. To unzip a
.ZIP file, you need an unzipping program. There are many unzip programs; we recommend
WinZip (Windows) or PKunzip (MS-DOS).
- Use the unzip program to extract the files to a folder on your hard disk. After that, close the unzip program and go to
the folder where the files are unzipped.
- Most games are equipped with an installation program or setup utility to install or configure the game. Look for
setup.exe, install.exe or another executable file (.EXE, .COM or .BAT) and
start it by double-clicking on it. This step is different with each game.
